Today we are going to talk about Skoda, what they revealed in Geneva International Motor Show 2018. So starting things off, they have the Kodiaq L&K and the facelift version of Fabia.
Now since we are already familiar with the Skoda Kodiaq, let’s check that out first. The seven seater premium SUV now comes with Skoda L&K trim. Which stands for the founders name Laurin and Klement.
On the outside the Kodiaq L&K gets a chrome grill along with 19 inch diamond cut alloys. Furthermore Kodiaq have got full LED head lights and chrome trim as standard. The front wings features badges with subtle L&K logos as well. Also they have got LED tail lights along with Skoda logo at the center.
On the inside things are cruised up a little bit. Starting with a 3-Spoke multifunction leather wrap steering wheel it has got some wood on the dashboard. The car is available in a choice of black or beige trim in addition to that u can find nice subtle L&K logo in and around the instrument panel cluster. The panel is wrapped around the piano black leather inserts. You can also find the logo on the home infotainment screen. Standard equipment on the L&K also includes the electrically adjustable front seats with memory function. You have door cells with the Kodiaq logo embossed. Additionally it has aluminium pedals, textile floor mats, auto dimming view mirror rain sensor, you name it the car has it all. Also a high end Canto audio system and ambient mood lightning as well.
The heart of Kodiaq:
Now the launch of the Skoda Kodiaq comes with a choice of new engine options. The latest 7 speed DSG gearbox is now available with a 2.0L TDI that produces a 150 BHP. The one we get to see in India. Along with a new 2.0L TDI engine that produces a 190 BHP. The top of the range with the top end engine comes with 4 Wheel Drive as standard but it is also available as option to other variants. All Wheel Drive variant of the Skoda Kodiaq L&K also comes with adaptive chassis control as an option.
Talking about the availability, the Skoda Kodiaq L&K is expected to be launch in India later this year. Launching at a price of 35 lakh rupees, it will go against the Toyota Fortuner.
Skoda Fabia Facelift:
Now moving on to the Skoda Fabia facelift, the car was launched a couple of years ago in India but quickly fizzled out. But since it was launched in the year 1999, over 4 million Skoda Fabia has been sold globally with the 3rd generation model accumulating around 500,000 units. The new updates include new led head lamps and for the first time led tail lamps as well. Rounding of the exterior updates are a choice of new alloy wheels.
On the inside for the first time Skoda has featured the swing infotainment system which features a 6.5 inch touchscreen. Which comes with Apple Car Play and Android auto as standard.
When it comes to engine option, the 1.4L TDI has been axed. Four petrol engines will comprise of the line-up which includes two naturally aspirated variants and two turbo petrol variants. These variants ranging from 59 BHP to a 108 BHP and all strap to a choice of manual transmission. The only automatic transmission is going to be available in 108 BHP TSI Fabia.
So will you like to see the Fabia in India, well the rumour says that it’s most likely going to be launched at the latter half this year. If it does come to India it’s going to make life a little bit more uncomfortable for the Polo, the i20 and the Baleno.
